Chronic Cough Bronchitis - Chronic Cough Due to Chronic BronchitisThe connection between atopic disease and the common acute bronchitis syndrome was examined using a retrospective, case-control strategy. The charts of of a control group of 60 patients with irritable colon syndrome and 116 acute bronchitis patients were reviewed for signs of preceding and subsequent atopic disease or asthma. Bronchitis patients were more likely to have a personal history or diagnosis of atopic disorder, a previous history of asthma, and more preceding and subsequent visits blood putum bronchitis. The chief finding of the study was a tenfold increase in the following visit rate for asthma in the acute bronchitis group.
